I thought I would take the afternoon to see if I could draw some battery boxes with Google Sketchup. You can get the Google Sketchup files for these at the Civic-EV Google Group in the files section. I was surprised by how easy the program was to use. Again, I was surprised by how easy it was to draw the models above.

click on the image for a larger view) All the Google Sketchup files for these racks can be downloaded from the Files area of the Civic-EV Google Group. There were too many pieces to dimension everything, but I hope people get the idea of what I'm trying to accomplish. Let's hope this works.

While I don't necessarily like using a commercially provided tool, Google Sketchup is really cool and allows people to quickly create 3D objects with annotated dimensions. I always wondered how much this kit really cost me, aside from tools, so I assembled a total parts price list and uploaded it to the Civic-EV Google Group here: [link] I'm a bit surprised I came out below $10K (barely).
