Global Electric Car Sales in 2020

In 2020, global electric car sales were higher than ever before. Despite the worldwide pandemic, electric vehicles (EVs) still garnered the attention of car shoppers.

Since the modern EV was introduced in the early 2010s, EVs have slowly trended upward. In fact, EVs in 2020 recorded the most sales and the largest market share ever. Here is the breakdown:

Global Electric Car Sales in 2020

Overall, there were just over 2,300,000 global electric car sales in 2020 as reported by EV-Volumes. Compared to 2019, 2020 sales increased over 1,000,000 thanks to the success of the Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model Y, and Volkswagen ID.3.

Closing Thoughts
