The locations of the closures are at Shell stations scattered throughout Northern California, located in San Francisco, Berkeley, San Jose and Sacramento. In September, Shell said it had “discontinued its plan to build and operate additional light-duty vehicle fueling stations in California,” in a statement to Hydrogen Insight.

General Motors is leading the program with a grant of more than $30 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds from the Transportation Electrification Initiative administered by the US Department of Energy. Volt production is scheduled to begin in late 2010. Pricing has not been announced.
