Airbus developing hydrogen fuel cell engine

Airbus is developing a hydrogen-powered fuel cell engine. Airbus will start ground and flight testing this fuel cell engine architecture onboard its ZEROe demonstrator aircraft towards the middle of the decade. A hydrogen gas turbine can also be coupled with fuel cells instead of batteries in a hybrid-electric architecture.

ZF and Freudenberg partner on fuel cell drives

ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division announced a joint development agreement with fuel cell and battery systems supplier, Freudenberg e-Power Systems. The partners will develop clean e-Drive ‘powerpack’ solutions, consisting of a fuel cell and drivetrain system, as well as share components for a variety of applications.

Cummins fuel cell technology powers Coradia iLint fleet in Germany

The Alstom Coradia iLint trains ( earlier post ) are outfitted with Cummins fuel cell systems and will run on the world’s first 100%-hydrogen train route in passenger operation. They are powered by Cummins fuel cell systems that convert hydrogen fuel into energy and turn existing, non-electrified infrastructure into zero-emission rail lines.

Komatsu develops hydrogen fuel cell excavator with Toyota systems

Komatsu has developed a concept machine for a medium-sized hydraulic excavator that combines a hydrogen fuel cell and Komatsu-developed key components.
