It’s not just Mum who has gone to Iceland… it is electric cars too, with the REVA Electric Car Company signing an agreement with Northern Lights Energy (NLE) to jointly develop the market in Iceland. The NXR is a three-door, four-seat family hatchback design for urban driving. It has a top speed of 65mph and a range of 99 miles per charge.

In 2012, with California in the midst of a severe drought, Schneider, then a mechanical engineering graduate student at Stanford University , once again tossed out a “cool idea.” Oasense officially launched its product, Reva , in August. “I’m always, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if this or that,’” he says, “and people would humor me.”

Further proof, if it were needed, that green cars are a truly global phenomenon, came when engineers in Bucaramanga presented Columbia’s first electric car to a proud audience last weekend. It has a 15 horsepower engine and can achieve speeds of 65km/h. It can also run for 70km before needing to be recharged.
