As it outlined in 2010, Bosch has increased the maximum injection pressure of its CRSN3-25 injection system for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles to 2,500 bar. The aim is to help meet more stringent emissions standards such as US 10 and Euro VI; higher injection pressures help lower fuel consumption and emissions.

The California Energy Commission unanimously approved funding of $1,974,330 for the expansion and upgrade of a biodiesel production facility and buy-downs of alternative-fuel vehicles. Researchers at Daimler AG and a colleague at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University have developed a new cost forecast model for hydrogen fuel cell stacks and Li-ion batteries using a two-factor experience curve approach. Among the findings reported in a paper published in the International Journal of hydrogen energy were a year 2020 cost for fuel cell stacks of €36–€49/kW; for Li-ion high power batteries, €38–€46/kW; and for high-energy Li-ion batteries, €309–€408/kWh.

Ford China sales up 32% in July

Ford China posted a 32% sales increase in July 2012, with 42,560 wholesale units sold. Year to date, Ford China has sold 319,882 wholesale units, up 4% from January – July 2011. Total Ford-brand passenger cars sales—which include the imported Ford Edge—are up 50% in July, at 27,498 units. The July performance reflects continued demand for the New Focus, which sold more than 11,000 units and the Mondeo, which sold 4,730 units, up 63% from last year.

Icom North America, a developer and manufacturer of liquid-injection propane (autogas) systems for commercial and consumer vehicles, has received 17 new US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certifications for its patented JTG II Propane Liquid Injection bi-fuel systems. The new certifications cover approximately 200 2010-2012 General Motors Chevrolet- and GMC-brand light-duty trucks and SUV platforms with 4.8- and 5.3-liter engines.
