Mercedes-AMG E 63 to offer improved aerodynamics and performance tweaks
Mercedes has revealed a variety of updates and changes to the E 63 saloon and estate, with the E-Class range topper gaining aggressive new styling and performance tweaks.
A larger grille with 12 vertical louvres and enlarged brand logo are the most obvious changes, while improved aerodynamics have been introduced to optimise airflow and on-road grip. Refinements to the dampers and chassis have also been made.
The engine remains unchanged from the previous version, with the E 63 retaining the 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine. Only the E 63 S will be available in the UK, with this top of the line model offering 603bhp and 850 Nm of torque. 20in alloys which have also been aerodynamically optimised also feature.
The S version of the saloon completes the sprint from 0 to 62 in 3.4 seconds while the estate achieves it in 3.5 seconds. All-wheel drive is offered via a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
Stepping inside the E63, the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system is featured with ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice recognition and three bespoke AMG display styles - "Modern Classic", "Sport" and "Supersport". Other unique touches include a twin-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel with paddle-shifters, while a ‘hands-on’ sensor allows the E63 to activate the emergency brake assist if it detects the driver isn’t in control.
The Mercedes AMG E 63 S will be available from July.
