New method for recovering lithium from natural salt pools with purity up to 99.9%

Researchers at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT), Finland, have developed new methods for the increasingly effective recovery of lithium from brine. The purity of the lithium solution increased from 95% to 99.9%—difficult and resource-intensive to accomplish using traditional methods. The lithium and lithium carbonate used in batteries are primarily produced from salt lake deposits.
