With each new electric vehicle that arrives on the market, we get a little bit more confused regarding charging times, types of charging, and how long it all takes.
We’ve collected the latest facts and figures for each manufacturer and model* with an EV on the market currently so you know what you’re getting.
The figures are only a guidance, the mileage you get from your EV may differ drastically to those stated, particularly as some of the older models listed were tested under the old, ridiculously optimistic New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), rather than the newer, more realistic WLTP Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).
Similarly, there are other factors that come into play such as tyre size, weather, and what mod-cons are being used in the car such as the air con or heated seats, which could further impact any projected mileage.
Most manufacturers wouldn’t recommend you attempt to charge your electric vehicle using a standard three-pin plug, but we felt for transparency we should include the information for those times where you’re on a weekend away in Wales without a charging station in sight.
