The Audi e-tron electric super-car concept that was recently unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show will be coming to a Playstation system near you soon.
The vehicle will appear in virtual format by December at the Playstation Home site, a free download-able application tied in with the PS3 system. Gamers will have a chance to take a virtual test drive of the vehicle as Audi becomes the first car maker to offer a virtual vehicle through Playstation Home.
After its release in December, gamers will have the chance to take the e-tron through the Vertical Run driving game within the Audi Space system. Additional photos and an inside glimpse into the concept vehicle will also be offered through Playstation Home.
According to Kai Mensing, Head of Online Marketing for Audi, "Most young people gain their first driving experience from video games. With the Audi Space, we can bring this target group into contact with out brand in a highly emotion-packed and interactive environment, and demonstrate our "Vorsprung durch Technik" with the virtual e-tron race."
The Virtual Race aspect of the Audi site allows users to race others in a multi-player knock-out format. You knock-out opponents by gathering electric energy and maintaining the highest speed throughout the race.
As Mensing added, "We developed an interactive concept where the focus is on selected Audi models, making it possible to experience the brand in a selective, interactive way."
Audi intends to add additional models and more user content to the Audi Space site beginning next year. For now, get ready to race the e-tron through the Virtual Race.
PS3 owners must download Playstation Home on their system to access the Audi Space site in time for its December launch.
