Tesla has begun offering limited demo drives in North America for its upgraded Model 3 “Highland,” after the redesigned vehicle officially launched in the region earlier this month. The refreshed 2024 Model 3 can now be seen on Tesla’s demo drive web page , though it only seems to be available in select locations.

Deliveries will begin in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii in the third quarter. Customers nationwide will be able to order Volts with participating dealers beginning in the second quarter.

That’s why hundreds of Volts that could be sold to individuals are tagged for dealers as demo vehicles, GM says, meant for customer exposure to the Volt and to other Chevy products they might otherwise not see. By the end of the year, more than 2,500 US dealers will receive a dedicated Volt demo.

As part of the overall agreements, the Torc team will work closely with Daimler Trucks’ developers, particularly with the Research & Development team of Daimler Trucks North America in Portland, Oregon. Torc will continue to develop its Asimov self-driving software and testing at its Blacksburg facility. The company employs around 100 people.

ZeaChem’s first commercial biorefinery is expected to have capacity of 25M gallons per year (GPY) and to be located in Boardman, Oregon. the demo-scale plant will begin to come online this year. GTFF will supply cellulosic biomass from its existing poplar plantations to the biorefinery, offering new markets for its wood products.

The production plug-in hybrid has a number of key changes from the 125 prototype demo units that were deployed in the field for testing and customer feedback. The demo units defaulted to EV mode. L/100km equivalent and 4.8 L/100km, respectively. EV mode is now user-selectable. Maximum EV speed is up to 62 mph.
