The coupler cost about $600 but compared to me hacking in the backyard +/- worth the money. The car cost $300, coupler $600,and the used forklift parts and batteries free (salvaged). I did have a coupler made from a machinist because this part has to be pretty balanced as it can spin on the motor about 5000 rpm's.

It cost £750. The trailer cost £45 to rent and diesel to pick it up was about £40. I intend to use a Open Revolt and battery pack of 120V 100/110 Ah.I I'd love to use lithium but initial outlay procludes this as we're buying a new home and expecting a new baby in May!! I'm chuffed with the car.

Despite the cost of the thing, my experience of two small shorts while wiring up the pack - 7.2v only - has scared me sufficiently that I don''t want any unfused cabling where it could possibly short out the pack.

Then towed the vehicle back to our hometown at the cost of $200 in rental and gasoline. 9/19/2011: Bought 1993 Plymouth Laser for $300. 10 hours of work, $500 spent, starting weight of vehicle: 2531 pounds. 9/20/2011: Cleaned car. Removed: radiators, exhaust manifold, upper cylinder head, alternator, camshaft, and assorted support bars.

cost so far $ 80 for plate and $60 dollars for machine work. I have the 2" connector being machined in the shop, 1-1/8th keyed on the motor side and I poped the spline out of the clutch and the machinist will lathe it and press it into the tranny side. This will be a direct drive unit.

I don't therefore need a high voltage motor, so I can keep my costs down. The highest speed limit on the island is 70km/h, and that's only on one 3km stretch of road. The rest of the island is 50km/h. So speed is not a big concern. A 144v motor set up could get my car to 130km/h, but when will I need that?

For all practical purposes it serves the same purpose as a NEMA L6-30 and costs 5x more. Who is that fooling anyway? I've had a hard time bellying up to the bar of SAE and pulling out my anty in the J1772 game. But if you want to play the game, you gotta pay the man. So I splurged and spent the $110 on one for my birthday.
