The TPDDL’s Rani Bagh substation of 0.52 MWh battery energy storage system will provide a better solution of power backup to preferential consumers in case of a grid outage. This grid-connected lithium-ion battery-based community energy storage system will help to adopt grid-scale energy storage technology majorly across India.

“Battery-based energy storage (BESS) provides the agility to better integrate intermittent solar and wind energy resources into India’s electric grid and ensure high-quality power for consumers,” Nexcharge Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer Stefan Louis said in a statement.

TPDDL CEO Ganesh Srinivasan said the system will help in strengthening its network and will be able to provide quality power supply to consumers at all times.

The grid-connected storage system can be used in peak demand. As electric vehicles need electricity to charge, there is a need for this kind of innovations.

Exide Industries & Leclanche SA joint venture

Exide Industries is a leading Indian storage battery producing company had signed an MoU in 2018 with Leclanche SA to set up a joint venture firm to produce lithium-ion batteries and to offer energy storage systems.

Tata Power

Tata Power currently has its presence in 65 cities in India with over 400 charging stations. It is planning to establish 700 charging stations across the country by December 2021. To provide charging infrastructure the company has partnered with many EV manufacturers such as Tata Motors, MG Motors and Jaguar Land Rover India. It has also partnered with Central Railway Mumbai in association with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) for charging facilities at the railway station area.
