Eaton developing suite of 48V technologies to help commercial vehicle manufacturers meet new global emission regulations

Green Car Congress

Eaton is developing 48-volt systems that include motor generators and inverters that generate 48-volt DC power for the vehicle. Eaton also produces 48-volt DC/DC converters that step power down from 48-volt vehicle architectures to power 12- and 24-volt systems. Eaton supercaps. —Ben Karrer.

Torotrak to present extreme engine downsizing solution at Dresden supercharging conference

Green Car Congress

In comparison with the incumbent fixed-ratio positive-displacement supercharger on a 1.0L Test results for NVH show the sound pressure of a V-Charge installation is up to 15.9dB(A) lower than a similar Eaton system with encapsulation, and 19.7 dB(A) lower than the similar Eaton system without encapsulation.

NREL study finds 2nd-generation diesel hybrid delivery vans show significant gains in fuel economy over conventional vans

Green Car Congress

The two study groups were on different duty cycles and required a route switch to provide a valid comparison, which UPS accommodated. The hybrids studied represented a second-generation,an evolution from UPS’ original 50 Eaton hybrids that NREL documented in earlier studies. kWh capacity; and power electronics.

Downspeeding and supercharging with transmission optimization can deliver fuel economy improvement over downspeeding and turbocharging

Green Car Congress

Researchers from Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and Eaton have demonstrated the application of downspeeding and supercharging a diesel vehicle, in conjunction with optimizing transmission gear ratios and the shift schedule, to deliver a greater improvement in fuel economy than a downsped and turbocharged configuration.
