The smartest scientists on the face of the planet, the ones studying climate change and global warming, are mad as hell and they’re not going to take it any more. They’re really pissed because some of the dumbest people on the face of the earth have been successfully keeping us from taking the steps we needed to take if we were going to save our children from a future existence we wouldn’t wish on our worst enemies.
But the scientists now know that we’re NOT going to save our children from that hell and high water that’s coming their way. We’re going to be doomed by our lizard brains and by the people who made sure that we didn’t see what’s happening as any kind of a crisis or anything we needed to have a sense of urgency about. The people who made sure that we were forced to argue with idiots while the heat just kept getting higher and higher…
I keep being reprimanded by well-meaning folks who tell me not to call the global warming deniers and skeptics “stupid” or “idiots” or “inherently evil traitors to their own children” but somebody’s got to tell the plain, honest truth about these mercenaries who are pouring gasoline on your kids before throwing their lit cigarettes into your childrens’ laps and then sending you the bill for the cleanup.
And I’m just the guy to tell that truth whether you want to hear it or not. I’m not the least bit intimated or scared by any of the people now arguing against saving ourselves – whether they’re with the oil, coal or gas industries or in the highest reaches of the Republican Party or atop the US Chamber of Commerce. That’s because I know the fate that awaits all of these enemies of our future. And that fate is at the hands of those people currently under 30 years of age who will react with a vengeance against those who sold them out.
And I will not only encourage them to do so, I will be at their side helping them.
If you think BP has been a complete screw up and has lied about everything that’s happened in their latest Gulf Oil Spill then you have the model for how all the fossil fuel burning industries has been treating you and your family’s future with their daily operations spewing civilization killing greenhouse gases every second of every day.
My friends at the US National Academy of Sciences have a less colorful but no less damning message for you. Here it is in five very easy to understand statements of fact:
1. The planet is warming due to increased concentrations of heat-trapping gases in our atmosphere. A snowy winter in Washington does not alter this fact.
2. Most of the increase in the concentration of these gases over the last century is due to human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation.
3. Natural causes always play a role in changing Earth’s climate, but are now being overwhelmed by human-induced changes.
4. Warming the planet will cause many other climatic patterns to change at speeds unprecedented in modern times, including increasing rates of sea-level rise and alterations in the hydrologic cycle. Rising concentrations of carbon dioxide are making the oceans more acidic.
5. The combination of these complex climate changes threatens coastal communities and cities, our food and water supplies, marine and freshwater ecosystems, forests, high mountain environments, and far more.
If those five points don’t get you to smell the coffee, how about this statement from the same scientists:
There is compelling, comprehensive, and consistent objective evidence that humans are changing the climate in ways that threaten our societies and the ecosystems on which we depend.
The people who today deny that man is causing climate change and that climate change will spin out of our control if left unchecked are lying and doing so with agendas that are political and profit-driven.
They are the very same people who have argued for years against environmental regulations, civil rights legislation and every progressive idea proposed for the last 1oo years.
There isn’t an honorable or decent human among this group and it’s time for us to stop pretending otherwise.
Giving these people any respect, let alone the time of day is a suicide pact.
Those same evil people don’t want you to know this either, straight from the National Science Foundation earlier this month. It is VERY bad news:
The permafrost of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf (an area of about 2 million kilometers squared) is more porous than previously thought. The ocean on top of it and the heat from the mantle below it warm it and make it perforated like Swiss cheese. This allows methane gas stored under it under pressure to burst into the atmosphere. The amount leaking from this locale is comparable to all the methane from the rest of the world’s oceans put together. Methane is a greenhouse gas more than 30 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is but a speck in the eye of a flea compared to what’s coming and you don’t have to be a member of the National Academy of Sciences or the National Science Foundation to see what’s coming as clearly as if it were the opening of the next Iron Man movie.
A lot of us think we’ve waited too long to do anything and don’t see anything on the horizon that will change our fate. But we’re going to keep fighting and keep working anyway. It’s the only thing left that can keep us sane as we witness the consequences of living in the Age of Stupid.

I’m a big fan of Tod Brilliant’s work in several arenas including photography, creative messaging and especially his writing for the Post Carbon Institute.
I first discovered Tod as part of the Climate Insider on-line group during last year’s Copenhagen’s climate treaty talks. His voice reached out and grabbed me among hundreds of voices all speaking at once.
I have been an environmentalist for years and have watched and learned what has been going on and I find it frustrating. The skeptics are the worst, they babble on and on about climate change telling people that it is the sun or that this is perfectly normal. I asked a few skeptics how much money the oil companies paid them to spew out their garbage that has no scientific bases at all. Politicians have their heads so far up their arse they could chew their food twice, they haven’t a clue as to what is on their horizon. I really enjoy reading your articles keep up the good work and informing the public about the truth.
Thank you for this. I am sharing it and wish my younger friends on FB would wake up and care. There is no time left. People like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin scare me more than anyone else in my life time. Why are they preaching to the ignorant who seem to worship them. They are spreading hate and stupidity and if Sarah ever gets into power, I will be moving for sure.

As I looked at the picture I realized one face was missing Limbaugh. Then we could have called them Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest. The best part is there are still so many deniers abounding right with every circle of friends and aquaintenances, and you can talk until your blue in the face, and end up with, “nope there is no global warmin” from these dense people. My favorite is the bunch of cimate warming deniers who claim, not only is there no warming, but rather the earth is getting cooler.

It’s happening now. I’m not speculating about the distant future. The first crack in our global life support system is widening now and we are about to experience our first major systems failure. We are on the threshold of the first major eco-system collapse of the Homoscene. The sixth major mass extinction event is currently underway in the planets history. If we continue to let the mindless morons that are in political power have their way we will have a very bleak future, if one at all. We must also shut the mouths of those so called scientists that are on the payroll of Oil Corporations. Greed and Ignorance is a sign of Stupidity and those that are profiting are not just sealing our doom but also their own. Where do you think their going or their children ah….. NOWHERE, Money ain’t going to help them what fools.
What amazes me most about this obvious catastrophe, is the absolute closed minded individuals who will not listen (least of all think) about what kind of world we are leaving our children. Is this the way you solve world problems? Insist that problems does not exist.
