Ford has into a partnership with Johnson Controls-Saft (JCS) to develop advanced lithium-ion battery system to power Ford’s first production plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) beginning in 2012. Initially the cells will be produced at the supplier’s production facility in France, but the system will be assembled in the United States.

The City of Santa Monica, California has awarded Clean Energy a multi-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) contract to fuel its Big Blue Bus (BBB) fleet of vehicles. Mercedes-Benz presented the new B-Class F-CELL, its first (limited) series production fuel-cell powered electric vehicle available in the US ( earlier post ), at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
