What battle did electric-car maker Tesla Motors bring on itself?

And, which of five new cars should win our Best Car To Buy 2015 award?

This is our video look back at the Week In Reverse--right here at Green Car Reports--for the week ending on Friday, October 31, 2014.

Our Friday story covered what we call "forbidden fruit": a cool car sold overseas that we'll never see in North America.

In this case, it's the ultra-luxury Toyota Esquire hybrid minivan. A little garish, a little pimped-out, but hey ... it's a hybrid!

Thursday, we summarized a spat over Tesla sales estimates between CEO Elon Musk and trade journal Ward's Auto.

We pointed out that the whole thing could have been averted if Tesla only released its monthly sales figures, as every other automaker does.

On Wednesday, we described the new 1.5-liter engine that will be used in the redesigned 2016 Chevy Volt range-extended electric car.

Then we followed that up with a lengthy description of the updates to all parts of the powertrain in the next Volt.

We also showed what the tiny tilting Toyota i-Road electric car is like on the road.

Tuesday, we noted that Amsterdam will soon have a large fleet of Tesla Model S electric taxi cabs.

The Dutch city follows the lead of Oslo, which has now had Tesla taxis on its roads since June.

We opened the work week on Monday with a video covering all five of our Best Car To Buy 2015 award nominees, adding a reader poll the next day that asked which one you all would pick.

Each day thereafter, we profiled a different nominee. So far, we've covered the Audi A3 TDI, the Honda Fit, and the Hyundai Sonata Eco.

Over the weekend, we wrote about a set of videos from Edmunds that car dealers hated so much they had them taken down.

What was so awful? The suggestion that perhaps haggling over prices--which dealers insist is "negotiating"--might not be the best way to buy consumer goods.

Imagine!
