The combination of harvesting whole forests and burning long-sequestered carbon sources such as coal or oil has impaired the Earth’s carbon cycle at an increasing pace. To restore balance we must protect the oxygen-producing biomass of Earth and reduce the amount of carbon emissions. But use of petroleum will continue.
