Bajaj Chetak electric scooter bookings opened in Nagpur 

Bajaj Auto has announced bookings for its Chetak Electric scooter in Nagpur. Interested customers can book their electric Chetak with a token amount of Rs. 2,000. After Bajaj introducing its electric scooter bookings in Pune and Bengaluru, Nagpur has become the third city to sell its electric scooters. The company is planning to extend the cities by 2022. Hyderabad and Chennai will be the next cities on the company’s list and Aurangabad and Mysuru later on.

The scooter will be sold through the KTM outlets at Kamptee Road and Khamla Square. Currently, the bookings are only open in Nagpur and are closed in Pune and Bengaluru.

While if we look at the price of the entry-level Chetak Urbane version is priced at Rs 1,42,988, while the Chetak Premium costs Rs 1,44,987. On-road in Nagpur, the Bajaj Chetak Urbane costs Rs 1,49,672, while the Chetak Premium is priced at Rs 1,51,680.

However, there seems to be no change in the price of Bajaj Chetak after the FAME II scheme was restructured. We need to get clarification from the company on that. The share of electric vehicles sold under the FAME-II Scheme as of May 2021 is 21% for electric three-wheelers, 2% for electric four-wheelers, 77% for electric two-wheelers.

Under the FAME II scheme, 33 high speed (HS) E2W models from different OEMs have been approved as of May 2021.

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter specifications 

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is powered by a 4kW electric motor and a lithium-ion battery which is IP67-rated and can be charged using a 5-15 amp electrical outlet. It gives a range of 95 kilometres in Eco mode (85 kilometres in Sport mode). Its battery comes with a three-year/50,000-kilometre warranty.

Features 

It has a single-sided tubular suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. A single-sided cast aluminium swingarm is also present. There are 12-inch wheels with a disc up front and a drum at the rear. The speciality of this electric scooter is it got a regenerative braking system.

The new Chetak is made up of an all-metal body and it doesn’t have Bajaj branding on it. The instrumental console is digital and it gets a horseshoe-shaped LED headlight with DRLs, sequential scrolling LED blinkers and a mobile app to assist the rider.
