At an event held at its steel plant in Ghent, Belgium, ArcelorMittal inaugurated its flagship carbon capture and utilization (CCU) project. The €200-million Steelanol project is a first of its kind for the European steel industry. It will reduce annual carbon emissions from the Ghent plant by 125,000 tonnes. Earlier post.)

The 100% renewable electricity mix in Chengdu is the result of a newly signed supply contract and will reduce the plant’s CO 2 emissions by more than 11,000 tonnes per year. At the Ghent plant in Belgium, Volvo Cars installed 15,000 solar panels in 2018, the first large-scale introduction of solar energy in its global manufacturing network.
