If you're going to put an electric-car charging station in your house, why not decorate it to suit your tastes?

General Electric WattStation owners will soon be able to do that, thanks to a collaboration between GE and Gelaskins.

Gelaskins--best known for its iPhone, iPad, and laptop cases--will make customizable skins for the WattStation home charging unit.

Owners can choose from a number of existing designs, or create their own. The skins are removable and interchangeable, in case owners get bored with just a single look.

The skins seem to replicate the aesthetic of Gelaskins' phone covers, with pop-culture standards like Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and the "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster among the available designs--along with a skull made of jewels.

So while WattStation owners will be able to express their personal tastes with these skins, they may not find many that match their home decor.

GE unveiled the wall-mounted WattStation home-charging unit in 2011; it features 240-volt Level 2 charging capability and currently sells for $799.

The WattStation isn't the least expensive home charging station on the market, but it's relatively easy to find: It's sold through chain hardware stores like Home Depot and Lowes, as well as on Amazon.

And each skin you may add to it costs just $30.

How would you decorate your WattStation? With flames?

Or maybe mess with friends and guests by disguising it as...a gasoline pump?
