The largest recall is for all Model Year 2017 to 2020 Model 3 vehicles—potentially 356,309 units. The recalled component was discontinued with the end of MY 2020 Model 3 vehicle production. Tesla is recalling some 475,000 of its vehicles to address defects in design/assembly.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration urged owners of select Model Year 2017-2019 Chevrolet Bolt vehicles to park their cars outside and away from homes due to the risk of fire. This recall affected 50,932 MY 2017-19 Chevrolet Bolt vehicles.

Because of the pandemic, there was a substantial reduction in 2020 in vehicle miles traveled. The biggest drop was in April 2020 (a reduction of 40% compared with April 2019) followed by a gradual rebound later in the year. In December 2020, the reduction was 11% compared with December 2019. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling the 2017-2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid—a plug-in hybrid minivan—over concerns of a fire risk relating to the 12-volt accessory battery connection. The recall affects 27,634 vehicles—every Pacifica Hybrid produced for all model years combined.
