Scania to test wirelessly charged plug-in hybrid city bus for the first time in Sweden

Starting June 2016 a prototype for a new Scania plug-in hybrid bus (based on Scania Citywide Low Entry) will go into daily operation in Södertälje. Now, for the first time in Sweden, Scania and the Stockholm based Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) plan to test the wireless charging technology in real-life conditions.

IEA: Electric vehicles posted strong gains in 2016; 2M now in global parc

With more than 750,000 units sold over the year, the number of electric vehicles in the global parc—primarily Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)—surpassed 2 million units in 2016, following a year of strong growth in 2015, according to the International Energy Agency’s Global EV Outlook 2017.

Toyota Mirai fuel cell vehicle launches in Sweden and Norway this summer, Netherlands later this year

Toyota will launch the Mirai fuel cell vehicle in Sweden and Norway this summer, following other European countries that have introduced the Toyota Mirai in 2015 (UK, Germany and Denmark) or early 2016 (Belgium). In Sweden, hydrogen is locally produced 100% based on renewable energy, just as in Denmark.

PowerCell Sweden receives first marine order for two S3 prototype stacks; on-board H2 production via solar electricity

PowerCell Sweden AB has received the first marine order for two PowerCell S3 prototype stacks, which Swiss Hydrogen will install on a ship powered by photovoltaics. The order is a result of the collaboration agreement, which PowerCell signed with Swiss Hydrogen in April 2016.

T&E: Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands lead deployments of zero-emission buses in Europe

In Sweden, Norway and Finland, respectively 26%, 24%, and 23% of urban buses registered in 2019 were zero-emission (electric or hydrogen). For example, the Dutch government specified in 2016 that all newly-procured buses must be zero-emission from 2025, and from 2030, all buses in use must be zero-emissions.
