Vattenfall contracts with BMW for up to 1,000 new 33 kWh Li-ion batteries this year for storage projects in wind farms

In 2011, BMW Group and Vattenfall Europe began a project with the MINI E to optimize the charging strategy to the use of wind energy. In 2013, the two started a research project on the secondary use of high-voltage EV batteries using batteries from the MINI E and the BMW ActiveE as stationary power storage.

BMW i home energy storage system integrates 2nd-life i3 vehicle batteries

BMW i ChargeForward Program to demo contribution of intelligent EV charging to grid efficiency

In the managed charge pilot program, select BMW i3 owners will allow PG&E to request a delay in the charging of their vehicles by up to an hour, when grid loads are at their peak. BMW will begin accepting applications at www.bmwichargeforward.com in January, and the program will kick off in July 2015.

BMW Selects SB LiMotive for Li-ion Batteries for Megacity EV

The first output of project i was the MINI E, which is currently in a large-scale field trial with about 600 vehicles in the US, UK, and Germany. The MINI E is powered by a drive system and battery pack from AC Propulsion. Data resulting from the trials will be used in the development of the Megacity vehicle, BMW said.

BMW begins Phase 2 of ChargeForward Program with PG&E to study advanced electric vehicle charging; results from Phase 1

Conducted with PG&E from July 2015 through December 2016, BMW enabled nearly 100 BMW i3 owners located in the San Francisco Bay Area to earn an incentive by offering flexibility in the time by which their vehicle was charged. BMW was the first to showcase this technology in a real-world application.
