Cadillac adding new top-end high-tech model to line-up; production in 4Q 2015

Cadillac will expand its line-up with what it described as a “new, top-end, high-technology car”. The as-yet unnamed Cadillac will go into production in the fourth quarter of 2015 at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. Tools and equipment unique to the Cadillac model were installed recently.

Cadillac partners with and ChargePoint for ELR charging

Cadillac announced a partnership with the ChargePoint electric vehicle-charging network in the world. The collaboration brings Cadillac ELR drivers immediate access to more than 16,500 charging locations on the ChargePoint network. All 2014 and 2015 ELRs will include a ChargePoint Driver Kit in the owner’s manual.

GM bringing wireless smartphone charging with Powermat to Cadillac models

Cadillac will add wireless charging of smartphones in the 2015 model ATS sport sedan and coupe launching this fall, to the CTS sport sedan this fall and to the Escalade SUV at the end of 2014.Compatible Cadillac CUE is the centerpiece of the ATS Coupe’s in-vehicle technologies.

Cadillac and Shanghai OnStar show 4G LTE, CarLife app and Apple Watch app

At CES Asia, which opened today in Shanghai, Cadillac and GM’s Shanghai OnStar joint venture are showing China’s first automotive 4G LTE telematics service along with the CarLife app; the My Cadillac app; and an Apple Watch app. Later this year, Cadillac will become the initial vehicle brand in China to offer 4G LTE telematics service.

Cadillac introduces the 4th gen Escalade SUV; no new hybrid model

Cadillac introduced the 2015 Escalade, the fourth-generation of the luxury SUV. There is no new hybrid model to replace the MY2013 Escalade two-mode hybrid, which was dropped in MY 2014 due to low sales (about 2%, according to a Cadillac spokesperson). Production of the 2015 Escalade begins next spring in Arlington, Texas.
