Governments, including 35 industrialized countries, also agreed to a second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol—due to expire next year— from 1 January 2013. Parties to this second period will turn their economy-wide targets into quantified emission limitation or reduction objectives and submit them for review by 1 May 2012.

IPCC sends draft Synthesis Report to governments for comment

It will integrate key messages from the three recent working group reports: the physical science basis (September 2013); impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability (March 2014); and mitigation of climate change (April 2014). The review period runs from 25 August to 10 October 2014.

GM recalling certain eAssist models; up to 42,904 vehicles potentially affected by GCM issue

General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2012 and 2013 Buick LaCrosse and Regal, and model year 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco vehicles equipped with the eAssist light electrification system. Starting with the arrival of 2013 models, eAssist is standard on the Regal with the discontinuation of the 2.4L 25 March 2013.
