In addition, GM’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture sold its 1 millionth vehicle in China this year on 14 Oct. GM has 11 joint ventures, two wholly owned foreign enterprises and more than 35,000 employees in China.

Teijin Limited announced that its Sereebo carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) has been selected by General Motors (GM) for use in select pickup box applications. Sereebo will be used to manufacture the optional CarbonPro pickup box jointly developed by Teijin and GM for the GMC Sierra Denali 1500 and GMC Sierra AT4 1500.

On October 14, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) became the first vehicle manufacturer in China to sell 1 million units in the domestic market this year. SGMW’s sales in the first nine months of 2011 were up 6.6% It is also expanding its exports of complete knockdown (CKD) kits for assembly at other GM facilities around the globe.

With domestic sales of 260,018 vehicles in November, GM’s sales in 2012 reached 2,593,642 units in the first 11 months compared with 2,547,171 vehicles sold in China for all of 2011. Last month’s sales were the highest ever for November and the second-highest for any month in GM’s largest market, rising 9.7% year on year.
