Ford ready to dominate hybrids, at least the luxury segment
While the Lincoln MKZ hybrid won’t help challenge Toyota’s hybrid sales all that much just yet, it could put Ford on track to dominate Lexus and luxury hybrid sales. Ultimately, Lincoln hybrid sales, even if they eventually outperform Lexus hybrid sales, will still be relatively insignificant.

Toyota Cumulative Hybrid Sales in Japan Top 1M; 2.68M Globally
Annual sales of TMC hybrids in Japan and globally. YTD figure is through 31 July 2010. US Hybrid Sales Down 45.5% in April
Monthly US sales of hybrids. Reported sales of hybrids in the US reported by Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM and Nissan dropped 45.5% year-on-year in April to 21,735, despite full month sales for the new Honda Insight and the Ford Fusion and Milan hybrids. Cash for Clunkers Buoys US Auto Sales; Hybrid Sales Up 31.8% for Monthly New Vehicle Share of 3.55%

Clunkers Program Worked, Didn't Hurt Car Sales, Study Says
A new study concludes that last summer's government-funded "Cash For Clunkers" program didn't hurt car sales rates in future months, and in fact did just what it set out to do: get old, low-mileage cars off the road and stimulate auto sales in the U.S.
