10,000 Think City electric cars in 2009. It plans to begin selling its cars in Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and the UK next year, with projected sales of 10,000 cars in 2009 and double that by 2011. If Think can begin making thousands of cars per year in 2009, I suspect there won't be much competition for years.

General Motors will debut its two-mode plug-in hybrid technology—originally intended to appear first in a Saturn VUE, prior to that brand’s sale—in a new Buick crossover vehicle in 2011. GM engineers presented the front-wheel-drive (FWD) iteration of their two-mode hybrid transaxle, termed the 2MT70, at SAE World Congress 2009 in April.

Results of an earlier simulation study of capacitor sizing for the system shows that a 75-100 Whr capacitor bank is appropriate for a Saturn VUE-sized PHEV. This unit is under test Mar-June 2009. Reduced-cost EDLCs, through capacitor construction that reduces labor cost (machine assembled with fewer parts).

In April 2009, Consumer Reports recommended only 17% of the GM cars they tested while they recommended 70% of the Fords. As part of the culling, GM has the option to re-badge vehicles from the non-core brands, such as the Pontiac G8, Opel Insignia and Saturn Vue. It also offers better fuel economy than the M5.
