Shell Postpones Coal-to-Liquids Venture With Shenhua

In 2008, Shenhua completed construction of a 1-million-ton direct liquefaction CTL project in Ordos in Inner Mongolia. The plant would have annual output of 3 million tons, and was estimated to cost $5-6 billion. Shenhua has also signed an agreement with Sasol from South Africa to study a coal-to-liquids project in Ningxia.
