The Honda Fit was the best-selling car among new vehicle registrations in Japan for calendar year 2008 and the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009. Fit was also the industry’s best-selling car for the month of March 2009, for the fourth consecutive month since December 2008, until it was displaced by Insight.

The Gen III Prius offers an EPA-rated combined cycle fuel economy of 50 mpg (now revealed to comprise 50 mpg city and 49 mpg highway). This is about a 10% improvement in EPA-rated combined cycle fuel economy over the older generation. Nominal pack voltage of the nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery remains at 201.6

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. 2010 Prius designed to be manufactured with NiMH or Lithium batteries. Batteries not ready. Has shown some concept fuel-cell PHEVs. Says demand and whether people will plug in remain to be proven.
