With consumption reductions of 20 to 23% in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), the savings achieved by the new generation of Cayenne models are the highest. However, the new generations of the 911 and Boxster/Cayman sports car model series launched in 2008 also revealed savings of up to 16 and 15% respectively.

Following the market launch of Bosch parallel full-hybrid technology ( earlier post ) in the Porsche Cayenne S and Volkswagen Touareg hybrids, the company is increasingly investing in the development of powertrain technologies for all-electric vehicles. BMW is the first customer of the joint venture, which was set up in 2008.

With more than a quarter of a million vehicles sold since its launch six years ago, the Porsche Cayenne is one of the few success stories in the modern era. In fact, in the fiscal year from 2007-2008 more than 45,000 models were sold around the world. The Cayenne S Hybrid will reach showrooms in 2010.
