China BAK began commercial production of lithium-phosphate cells at its Shenzhen facility for use in cordless power tools in October 2005, and for mining lamps in March 2007. In February 2006, China BAK Battery formed a contract manufacturing partnership with A123Systems.

The report for the Department for Transport is based on a survey module included in the Office for National Statistics’ Opinions (Omnibus) survey which has been carried out each August since 2006. In 2008, 64% agreed with that; in 2007, 63%; and in 2006, 62% agreed.

The plant sends no waste to landfill and has reduced the amount incinerated by 82 per cent to 730 tonnes from 1999 to 2006. Between 2003 and 2007, CO2 emissions have also been slashed by 36 per cent. It aims to eventually cut this amount down to zero.
