EPA proposes rule for nationwide 30% cut in GHG from existing power plants by 2030 relative to 2005

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the already widely-discussed (albeit without much detail) “Clean Power Plan” proposal, which mandates a national average 30% cut in greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants from 2005 levels by 2030. EPA is only proposing goals for states with fossil fuel-fired power plants.

FedEx Express and Nissan to begin testing e-NV200 battery-electric van in DC

FedEx will deploy the Nissan e-NV200 in the Washington, DC area, where it will undergo field tests that subject it to the routine requirements of a delivery vehicle. From 2005 to 2012, the introduction of this type of vehicle in the fleet enabled the company to save nearly 2.4 million liters (634,000 gallons US) of fuel.

DC Circuit court vacates 2012 cellulosic RFS standard, affirms 2012 advanced biofuel standard

EPA Proposes Transport Rule to Cut Pollution from Power Plants in 31 States and DC; New Approach for Pollution Reduction

By 2014, the rule and other state and EPA actions would reduce SO 2 emissions by 71% over 2005 levels. The proposal would replace and improve upon the 2005 Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR), which the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit ordered EPA to revise in 2008. NO x emissions would drop by 52%.
