June the second warmest on record
We were given a stark reminder when preliminary data was issued by the US National Climatic Centre that showed the globally averaged combined land and sea surface temperature was the second warmest on record for June 2009 and that the January-June period tied with 2004 was the fifth warmest on record. Annual Increase in Global CO2 Emissions Halved in 2008; Decrease in Fossil Oil Consumption, Increase in Renewables Share
In Europe, emissions from large industries (‘ETS sector’) showed a 3% decrease in 2008, largely caused by a decrease in power plant emissions.
