Chevy Volt gets a Chirpy Sound

Electric Cars are for Girls

Remember when blessed silence was a GOOD thing? Well, not anymore. Apparently, those treehugging Prius drivers have been inadvertently mowing down pedestrians in their path from Starbucks to Pilates, so GM is talking to the National Federation for the Blind about how they can add a level of noise pollution to electric cars. Apparently involves a non-birdly "automotive" chirping.

New Hyundai Electric Car

Electric Cars are for Girls

This came from the GM-Volt website (thanks to Seth Leitman for tweeting it). Apparently Hyundai has abandoned their hydrogen delusions and decided that there might be a future in electric cars, after all. 99 mile range on lithium ion batteries, same supplier as the Volt, but 0-60 in 15 seconds? John Wayland: "I like trees, but I don't hug them.I like to have fun.

Looks like it's a fiscally smart move, too, which the Post Office dearly needs. BTW, it looks like Ford and Chrysler haven't actually forgotten how to build electric cars after all, because they've been quietly building a small fleet of electric postal vans for California since the beginning of 2009.

Electric Cars are for Girls

Wondering about that little blue gizmo up there on the right that says "EV Driven featured"? I put it there for you because - as much as I hate to admit it - you just can't get all your online EV news at "Electric Cars Are For Girls". There are some things I don't cover, don't emphasize, aren't interested in, whatever. "EV Driven" is a new online place where you can catch up on the new electric car info, from dozens of different sources (including "Electric Cars Are For Girls", of course; ).
