The shortest test-drive ever.
Last week I was one of the lucky few to get a ride in a REAL 2011 Nissan Leaf - but sadly not behind the wheel. More on that later) - but for now, here’s my very quick review of the Nissan Leaf Test Mule. Test mule is something that automakers do to test out the drivetrain of a new vehicle by putting it in an already existing model. had fun.

Yazaki, J1772, the Europeans and the new charging order.
Last week at the 2009 SAE World Congress the final plans were bashed out for a new way to charge plug in vehicles. Sadly it’s not an inductive one like the oh-so-simple charge paddles which were used on cars like the EV1 and RAV4EV to name but a few. No, this new standard is a good old-fashioned mechanical plug. Don’t get me wrong.

Images of those battery packs tossed over cliffs or littering roadsides are a little overblown. Even after its

It hasn't been a great year for Toyota in the U.S., with a recall of 3.8 million vehicles for possible floor-mat hazards and a dire shortage of 2010 Prius hybrid models.
