After an amazingly successful World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this past Earth Day, Revenge of the Electric Car will be making an appearance at a handful of other festivals across the country, as we gear up for a wider release. Check our " See the Film " page for links to showtimes, and keep checking back for new screening announcements and to request the film come to your city.
Theatrical distributor Area23a has just partnered with Revenge of the Electric Car to bring the film to major cities nationwide this fall. "We're very excited to announce our partnership with Area23a for our theatrical release at Silverdocs," says director Chris Paine. Was there a level of distrust among the execs? CHRIS: Yes. It took time and there was distrust on all sides at different times. We knew we were vulnerable to car industry PR efforts and they knew they couldn't control what we did editorially.

This month, Revenge of the Electric Car celebrates Earth Day with some great new ways to see the film. Still available on DVD online, and streaming on multiple outlets over the internet, we're happy to announce our USA broadcast premiere of the film this month! Starting April 19th, Revenge of the Electric Car will be on TV on the Independent Lens documentary series on PBS.
As Portland, OR gears up for yet another screening of Revenge, local EV'er and filmmaker J Bills recounts the scene at the Portland premiere back in November: Here in Portland, we still talk about the last time Chris Paine rolled through town with a movie; an early screening of 2006’s seminal “Who Killed the Electric Car?” that rallied the local electric army and provided a slingshot of momentum as the film hit the circuit.

This weekend is a big weekend for electric vehicles: Sunday, September 23rd is National Plug In Day , organized by Plug In America , the Sierra Club , and the Electric Auto Association. For example, the Chicago area EV enthusiasts are gathering at the Christian Community Church parking lot,1635 Emerson Lane in Naperville, IL at 2pm to open the doors of dozens of electric cars and electric conversions to community members who want to talk to EV drivers and learn more about the cars.

Chris Paine and the Revenge crew (Sean, Craig, Jessie, and Jessica) are proud to say that they are among the first film crews ever to professionally film mass production of an EV. Tesla has breathed new life into the recently shut down NUMMI plant in Fremont, announcing its plans last week to team up with Toyota to start making its $50,000 electric Model S at the NUMMI plant.
